Any appeals of assessments for 2015 Philadelphia real estate taxes are due no later than October 6, 2014. For almost everyone in the City, the assessments are unchanged from the 2013 assessment and if you did not receive an assessment notice earlier this month, it means your assessment did not change.
Who needs to act?
- If your 2013 assessment was too high and you missed the deadline to appeal, you can appeal now.
- If something has happened (to the property or the market) that has materially decreased your property value.
- If you received a new assessment notice this month.
The City remains inundated with pending appeals from last year. If you filed an appeal in 2013 and that appeal has not yet been decided, the City is deeming that appeal to also be filed for 2014 taxes. Whatever ends up being decided for 2014 will apply to both 2014 and 2015.
