Mitchell R. Cohen, Flaster Greenberg shareholder and chair of the Alternative and Renewable Energy Practice at the firm, will participate in a panel discussion on topics related to the funding of alternative energy projects, on Tuesday, February 22, 2011. The Solar Symposium will be held at the Rutgers Eco Complex, 1200 Florence-Columbus Road in Bordentown, NJ from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Cohen’s presentation will focus on the financial pitfalls that may be found in commercial solar energy contracts. He will provide an overview of the types of contracts utilized in the solar energy industry, how the contracts differ in terms and scope and areas of potential financial concern that are critical to note. He will also review the availability of federal and state programs and other financial incentives and assistance.
As chair of the Alternative and Renewable Energy Practice, Mr. Cohen represents clients engaged in or considering business ventures in emerging green energy fields such as solar, wind, geothermal, cogeneration, biofuels and biomass. His clients include solar and other alternative energy developers, EPC contractors, energy consultants and alternative energy funding sources.
He additionally represents corporate clients in all aspects of business-related matters and transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, plant and product expansion, succession planning and divestitures. Mr. Cohen has particular experience in corporate financing, including senior debt, mezzanine and equity funding, as well as workout and restructuring financing. Mr. Cohen has represented international oil and refining companies, transportation companies, high-tech and biotech companies, medical service providers, equity funds and national lenders.
