Flaster Greenberg has launched an insurance counseling and recovery practice group after more than doubling its roster of insurance lawyers since the start of 2020, with lateral additions from Washington, D.C.-based Weisbrod Matteis & Copley and more recently from Maryland-based Offit Kurman.

Most recently, Flaster Greenberg recruited shareholder Jay Levin and counsel Jennifer Katz, who were principal and counsel, respectively, at Offit Kurman before starting at Flaster Greenberg. Levin, who started May 24, is based out of the firm’s West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, office, and Katz, who began June 1, is based in the Cherry Hill, New Jersey, office.

The addition of Levin and Katz comes as Flaster Greenberg firm leaders elevate the team of insurance recovery attorneys to a subgroup within the firm’s litigation department, said Lee Epstein, who said he assumed the role of chair of the insurance counseling and recovery practice at the same time as their addition.

Flaster Greenberg has added 23 attorneys since January 2020, nine of which are members of the firm’s insurance counseling and recovery practice, according to a spokesperson for the firm. In September, the firm saw the practice group nearly double in head count with the addition of Meghan Moore, Nicole Josephy and Michael Iles from litigation boutique Weisbrod Matteis, who also bolstered the firm’s footprint in South Florida.
